Soups & Chilis

Potato Soup

Starting with left over mashed potatoes &/or baked potatoes is recommended.

In a big pot put in a few cups of mashed potatoes or at least 3 baked potatoes torn/cut up some

Pour in that almost too old milk until the pot is almost as full as you want it... should be more milk than potatoes.

MEDIUM HEAT

Add at least a 1/2 cup of diced ham heal, or cooked hamburger.
Bacon Bits are yummy too, if you can afford them.
Put in some onion or onion flavor to taste
Salt & PEPPER to taste.

Secret ingredients: a 1-3 grated carrots; MORE PEPPER; & at least enough velveeta type cheese to make it creamy.

If it just ain't working & is too milky ? Put in instant potatoes until its the consistency you want. BUT unless you shop carefully you just doubled the cost.

Heat until ALMOST boiling. If it boils you'll get that skin on top.

Chili

Brown at least a 1/2 pound of hamburger & drain. (But it's better w/ more meat.)
Add a can or two of beans (your choice : pork n beans, pinto beans, kidney beans)
Add 2 small cans or 1 big can of tomato SAUCE. More if you like it soupy.
1 package of CHEAP "chili" flavoring powder.
Fill the package with water & pour into the chili

If you like it spicier add chili powder, or hot sauce.
If you want it like mama really makes it, add at least some minced onions.

Simmer till it's had time to mix the flavors together.

Serve w/ cornbread, tatertots, baked potatoes, or crackers. & Cheese if you can afford it.
